Lusail International Circuit Delivers Thrilling Motorsport Action and Community Engagement in March

March at Lusail International Circuit (LIC) began with the conclusion of the Qatar 1812 KM - FIA World Endurance Championship, which delivered a thrilling season opener that captivated motorsport enthusiasts from around the world.

The three-day event featured 36 cars competing evenly across Hypercar and LMGT3 categories in a sub 10-hour endurance race that showcased the pinnacle of engineering. In the Hypercar category, AF Corse claimed victory with drivers Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye, and Philip Hanson piloting the #83 Ferrari 499P to victory, completing the race in just over 9 hours. The LMGT3 category saw similarly intense competition, with TF Sport securing the win as drivers Ben Keating, Daniel Juncadella, and Jonny Edgar drove the #33 Corvette Z06 to victory.

The circuit also hosted the 2025 FIM Mini GP Qatar Round 1 on March 15th, featuring the next generation of racing talent. Mohammed Al Mutawa dominated Race 2 with the fastest lap of 54.855 seconds, finishing with a time of 13:54.936, 16.847 seconds ahead of Andrea Giacchero, with Jake Franklin taking third place with a time of 14:23.790. Seven riders completed the challenging 15-lap night race showcasing the next generation of motorsport talent.

Community engagement remained a central focus throughout March, with LIC announcing an extensive program of public access events designed to bring Qatar's residents closer to this state-of-the-art facility. The circuit introduced its Ramadan schedule for track and cycling days, offering unprecedented access to the same 5.38km circuit that hosts Formula 1®, MotoGP™, and World Endurance Championship events.

Motorsport enthusiasts embraced the opportunity to experience Car Track Day on March 20th, where participants drove their own vehicles on the circuit in a controlled setting. Similarly, Motorcycle Track Day on March 21st allowed riders to navigate all 16 turns of the circuit that has been home to MotoGP™ since 2004.

In a significant expansion of community outreach, LIC partnered with Qatar Cycling Federation to host multiple cycling events. The first  Mixed Cycling Day on March 16th attracted over 400 participants, offering cyclists the unique opportunity to ride on the same track used by global motorsport stars. Additionally, LIC also  hosted a Ladies-only Cycling Day on March 25th,in partnership with Qatar Cycling federation,  continuing its commitment to inclusive sporting opportunities for all community members.

These March events collectively demonstrate LIC's commitment to hosting world-class motorsport competitions while being accessible to the wider community. From endurance racing excellence to grassroots engagement through track days and cycling events, Lusail International Circuit continues to cement Qatar's position as a comprehensive center for motorsport development in the region.
