Francesco Bagnaia Wins the MotoGP™ Qatar Airways Grand Prix Of Qatar 2024

The iconic MotoGP™ Qatar Airways Grand Prix Of Qatar 2024 concludes after a weekend of on and off track entertainment for spectators; the celebration of speed and action concluded with a spectacular show of fireworks.

 

Riders from every MotoGP™ category and the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup competed in races that ultimately determined their fate in pursuit of victory in Qatar. Prior to the exciting racing action, Lusail International Circuit (LIC) teamed up with The Qatar Armed Forces Band Regiment for a captivating rendition of the Qatari national anthem, performed by renowned Qatari singer Nasser Al Kubaisi. The Minister of Sports and Youth H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani was also in attendance.

 

After the exceptional performance at Tissot Sprint Race Saturday, Jorge Martin (Pramac Ducati) was one of the top contenders of the race along with Brad Binder from Red Bull KTM and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team). In a thrilling race the Italian rider secured P1 by a gap of 1.329 seconds and a total time of 39 minutes 34.869 seconds joining him on the podium is Brad Binder securing P2 with a total time of 39 minutes 36.198 seconds, and Jorge Martin clocking in at 39 minutes 36.802 seconds.

 

Under the iconic Lusail International Circuit floodlights and the spectacular display of fireworks, Francesco Bagnaia was awarded the trophy for MotoGP™ Qatar Airways Grand Prix Of Qatar 2024. 

 

Alonso Lopez of the Sync SpeedUp team claimed victory in the final race of the Moto2TM category. Clocking in at a total time of 35 minutes and 45.595 seconds, Lopez clinched the win by a narrow margin of 0.055 seconds against Barry Baltus from RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP, who secured second place. Following closely behind, Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets - MSI) secured third place with a total time of 35 minutes and 46.337 seconds.

 

Moving to the Moto3™ category, David Alonso of CFMOTO Aspar Team emerged victorious with an incredibly tight margin of 0.041 seconds against Daniel Holgado from Red Bull GASGAS Tech3, completing the race in 33 minutes and 19.819 seconds. Taking the third position, with a gap of 0.143 seconds, was Taiyo Furusato from Honda Team Asia, with a time of 33 minutes and 19.921 seconds.

 

In the final race of the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup, fans watched as Japanese rider Zen Mitani led the scoreboard with a total of 45 points. Engaged in a thrilling battle with Indonesian rider Kiandra Ramadhipa, who crossed the finish line first in the final race with a total time of 26 minutes and 13.066 seconds, Zen Mitani secured second place with a narrow margin of 0.0453 seconds, followed closely by Riichi Takahira with a total time of 26 minutes and 13.229 seconds.

 

President of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation and Lusail International Circuit , Mr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullatif Al Mannai, shared his insights on the conclusion of the MotoGP™ Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar 2024:

 

“As the Lusail Speed Fest wraps up with the season-opening race of MotoGP at Lusail International Circuit today, we are truly delighted to have brought two back-to-back motorsport events to fans in Qatar and the region over the past two weekends. With the track brimming with action and celebration of skill, hosting such international events not only helps us build on Qatar’s rich sporting legacy but also inspires future generations.

The Fan Zone and Paddock area buzzed with energy as spectators mingled with their favorite MotoGPTM stars during the Hero Walk. Amidst capturing memorable moments and participating in various engaging activities throughout the circuit, spectators embraced and enriched their MotoGPTM experience.
